Resolution is registered in the State of Rhode Island, where my original anscestor settled after emmigrating from Britain to the American colonies in 1636. His name was John Whipple, and his house still stands in Providence, RI, which is Resolution's home port. In fact, registering the boat was quite a chore. I could not register with the Coast Guard because the boat is too small. Other states I contacted, such as Hawaii, needed the boat to be physically present for registration. Then I heard that Heather Neill had registered her Flicka in RI. So I got the paperwork together and RI honored my boat with both title and certificate of registration. Glad to be official.
The rigging is all spliced and slushed with the following goop: 6 parts Stockholm tar; 3 parts boiled linseed oil; 1 part cobalt dryer; and 1 part varnish. I've begun parcelling and serving, and hope to have that all finished in a couple of days.
Went to Auckland yesterday and bought $600 worth of rope for running rigging, ground tackle, and lacing. Came back by Viaduct Marina to see friend Minoru Saito who is refitting his huge steel cutter before starting a west-around solo circumnavigation in October from Japan.
