Once the fiberglass cloth was epoxied onto the hull and cured, the big job is fairing. First I rolled a coat of epoxy mixed with microlite onto the entire surface. Then, when it was sufficiently cured, I sandpapered the entire surface with a longboard (bottom photo). This clarified the low spots and I was able to fill them with more microlite paste. That's what you see in the photographs. Well, actually, the photos are the second step. First, after the initial boarding, I filled all the low spots with microlite mixture. Then sanded with the long board again. This identified a few additional low spots. That's what you see being filled in the top and middle photo. The port side is almost finished, but the starboard still has to be done. A few more days of sanding and fairing before I can apply the first coat of primer.
