We Black Horse Western authors and a group of interested onlookers and soon-to-be authors decided about two years ago to put out an anthology of stories from members of the Yahoo Black Horse Westerns group. The book came out on the Express Westerns imprint and sold enough to get our money back. Fourteen good stories of the Old West by authors who love what they do.
Time passes.
The group decides to do another anthology. I volunteer to co-edit with Nik Morton. We've gone through half a dozen of the stories we've received to date, and they are up to the usual high standard. In fact, our moderator Howard Hopkins has written a story that really pushes the boundaries. He's not only a good writer, he's a courageous one. Look forward to reading a story entitled Billy. It will make you uncomfortable, and it will bring tears to your eyes. Promise.
Since submitting Hell Fire in Paradise, I've been kind of marking time. Trying to get MY story done for the anthology, and trying to work up some momentum on a crime novel. But I've got this Western novel idea in my head . . . .
I suppose I could write both at the same time, but I don't tend to work very well in that mode.
I'm going off to Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Kentucky, and California in September. Taking my digital camera along to capture plenty of "western" landscapes and maybe a few ghost towns. I'll blog it when I get back, or maybe a few times along the way.
Almost time to go for the daily walk. Try to get at least 45 minutes of brisk walking in every day. I want to write BHW books for some years to come.
Need to take my boat out for a cruise, too.
